On the 17th October, to tie in with the commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the 1911 Revolution, the HKIEd organized a series of commemorative events including a seminar and an unveiling ceremony for a statue of Dr Sun Yat-sen. In collaboration with the Institute Library, the Museum organized a special exhibition to depict the revolutionary life of Dr Sun Yat-sen. Drawing on materials from the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum of Hong Kong, the exhibition included artifacts relating to Dr Sun Yat-sen’s education, for example, Dr Sun Yat-sen’s examination report at the College of Medicine for Chinese, Hongkong, 1889.
In addition, over 100 books and publications on studies of Dr Sun Yat-sen from the Institute’s Mong Man Wai Library collection have been selected for display, hoping to arouse students, staff and public members’ interest in revisiting Dr Sun Yat-sen’s thoughts and spirit. The exhibition was located on the Ground Floor of the HKIEd Library and ran till 14th November 2011. It was free of charge to the public.
